Erin is happily married and is the mother of two amazing children, her step-son, Austin, and her daughter, Marlee. Her family has two dogs, a dachshund named Keeley and a golden retriever named Ruby. They also have a bearded dragon named Sophie.
Erin is a Girl Scouts leader of her daughter's troop, a Forensic Scientist, a Forensic Artist and a Faculty Associate at a local University. She loves outdoor activities, crafting/drawing/creating and spending time with her family.
Erin started her career in law enforcement as a 9-1-1 Operator and Radio Dispatcher in 2004. It was an exciting, stressful and sometimes disheartening experience, but also very rewarding. She then became a Laboratory Technician in 2005 where she assisted Forensic Scientists. She promoted to Forensic Scientist in 2006 and has worked in this position ever since. She became a Forensic Artist in 2013 and has been helping multiple jurisdictions with drawings from victim & witness recollections, drawings from surveillance videos, reconstructions and image modifications. She has also been teaching college students about Comparative Forensics since 2019. Her passion is in helping others and all of these paths in her career have accomplished this in different ways.
She has done numerous public speaking events for elementary schools, high schools, colleges and even television interviews about Forensics over the years. She LOVES sharing her knowledge with others and hopes to inspire the next generation of Forensic Scientists/Artists.
Erin was also featured in the show Reasonable Doubt on Investigation Discovery (Season 4, Episode 1) as a Forensic Artist. She was able to show the effectiveness of a Forensic Artist on an investigation and how skilled they are at getting the information they need to create a composite from the witness/victim.
After having her daughter, Marlee, in 2015, she started thinking about how she could marry her passion of being a Forensic Scientist/Artist with her love of being a mother. She also wanted to include her favorite animal, a sloth, in whatever this venture may be. That's how CSI: Crime Sloth Investigator was born!
She wrote the book in 2019, then let is sit in a drawer not knowing what to do with it. She finally decided that she needed to start the illustrations to make the story come to life. It evolved as the characters were added, so the process took longer than expected!
To make the story fit closer with reality, she added more and more characters to the mix. She didn't want the typical "one person does it all" type of story as it often does. So, she has included Crime Scene Specialists, Detectives and, in future books, 9-1-1 Operators/Radio Dispatchers, along with the star of the show, the Forensic Scientist/Forensic Artist. They ALL play a role in solving crimes and helping others.
